It’s a shame that what could have been a defining moment of couture for many at Stéphane Rolland was vastly overshadowed by the de rigueur reality TV quack and pouting music mogul pairing of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Stuck in the antechamber of the main room, in a purgatory between backstage and front of house, I was left to wonder on quite a number of pieces. One thing is for certain, Rolland has amped up the star power of this collection.

The collection was sleek and form-fitting, and the silicone tentacles that sprouted from slim shoulders provided for amusing jiggling sessions from the models poised to exit. Rolland’s volumes were extremely well executed, but his pant suits really stole the show really stole the show. Cream with a deep U-neck, black and sheer, there’s a lot to like about these and their cape-like attachments that added a flow of movement to every step.

Fan Bing Bing’s bride finale should have been the tidal wave that swept through minds, and to those who pay attention to the runway rather than the front row, it was.
